Goldmund is only planning to build 25 of these beauties, at a rate of just 5 per year.

Goldmund Reference II. The Reference II was limited to just 25 units, has a platter that weighs 20kg, and some 15kg of brass shielding for the motor. There's no end to the fantastical-sounding features - 'liquid nitrogen-rectified belt' being our favourite - but sadly the £165,000 doesn't go quite as far as you might hope; you'll.

I certainly couldn't lift the whole thing. The base table is a 600x530x45mm slab of ally with a steel frame bolted to it to give the classic Goldmund "mechanical grounding", (if you believe that works, I don't) that calculates to weigh about 37kg, the platter is about 20kg iirc the subchassis is pretty heavy too, I'd guess the whole thing between 75 and 125 kg probably, or 150 to 250 lbs.

US-based luxury audio company Goldmund will manufacture only five a year for five years, and the quota for 2007 has already been filled. This is one exclusive piece of audio kit, then, and lovely to behold as well: Swiss-made, the metal work is from the same company that supplies parts for Patek Philippe and Rolex watches, so the finish is superb.
